Comecei o manual, e decidín que ía procrastinar en procrastinação ...

The title means "I started the manual, and decided I would procrastinate on procrastination..." I know the title is ridiculously long and probably doesn't make very much sense but I felt creative at the end of this long week. I was planning to wait and do the manual at a later date but that just seemed slacker-like. I still want to uphold my dignity, so I began my manual and I have decide to post my "purpose" in this week's blog:

Purpose: To teach the valuable skill of collaboration to those who are willing to participate. Collaboration has always been a very important skill to learn and use, and it may be a necessary skill to have later in life. It is important that the foundations are laid for the young mind at Oakbrook Preparatory School. Through the various team-building activities, students will be faced with challenges that cannot be accomplished without the cooperation of a function team. Whether successful or unsuccessful, students will learn what it mean to work together, even if it is just crossing from one wooden platform to another.

I know it may not be perfect right now but it is a start and it properly explains the reasoning for doing my project. I will continue to work on the final product and will try to be ready for our practice date. Thanks for tuning in.... until after Nicaragua and Spring Break.

Jeg trenger å starte manuell!

The title means "I need to start the manual!" I have been sick recently, which adds to the senioritus. I know I need to do my manual but I do not have the will to start it. I will get it done but it will likely be drawn out a lot longer than it should be. I think that most of the stuff I will put in the manual is pretty self explanatory so it feels kind of pointless. I understand that not everybody sees the activities through my eyes but everybody has some creativity in them. I look at the activities and see multiple way to do them and it even takes away from the teacher if I write everything I can think of in the manual. I will give the basics and let everyone who reads the manual expand on the basics themselves.

Gələcək üçün Planlama

The title means "Planning for the Future," because I am considering the rest of the year. I like the flexibility of my project and I am still excited about the potential it might have to continue in years to come. I have kept it portable in order to allow the expansion of the school without the destruction of my project. I hope that we will be able to expand the low-ropes course in the future so that it is more exciting and better developed. I believe that there are plenty of good options for a more permanent ropes course in the future for Oakbrook. I hope that I can do the activities one more time with the kids before the end of the year so that I can see what they have learned. I will begin to write a manual in the near future and will hopefully be able to finish it relatively quickly. Until later. Ciao

Yr wyf yn dysgu rhai pethau pwysig yr wythnos diwethaf

The title means "I learned some important things last week". It is very true. Last week was one of the best weeks of school I have had all year. It was so much fun and I feel that the kids really enjoyed themselves. They were all very creative and full of energy. Mrs. Myers was also so easy to work with and full of great ideas. She is definitely the expert on the children and knows how to keep them straight. If you have even met a little child, you know how crazy they can be! I also commend the Senior class and the 5th grade for tying for the most people on "The Square" activity. Both classes got 11 people on the platform. It was insane! I was involved with the Senior group and we tried many painful methods. I was impressed with the 5th grade because they were able to do it so easily. I wanted so bad to beat the kids at my own game; but alas, we tied :( Oh well. The plan is now to do the activities with the Girls Varsity Soccer team and hopefully do it on the first club day in March with the teachers. This way they can wear jeans and do the activities while hopefully some students snicker on the sidelines at their problem-solving. It will be interesting to see whether the teachers, who encourage and teach us how to collaborate, can rise to the occasion and finish the challenges.

ڈھانچے کی تکمیل کا کا... بہت اچھا

The title means "The completion of the structures... awesome!" I am now currently finished building all of the parts of my senior project. It is all assembled and ready for next week. I will hopefully be prepared on Monday for the first lesson. I believe that I should start by showing the entire PE class the activities and explain the rules to them. Next, I will probably need to divide the grade up into different groups. Depending on the activities, I will tell how many people need to be in each group. Each grade will be different and even the activities have variability in the number of people needed for completion. I will test the various activities with the senior class tomorrow at school in order to better understand the number of people capable of being apart of each activity. I understand that one senior probably equals 1.5 elementary students, but it is always nice to know the limits. I hope that these activities work out well because I spent quite a bit of time completing each of them. I have no new pictures at this moment but if I have a chance this weekend, I will up load some pictures from my camera.

The title means "  ". I had the opportunity to work for 9 hours this last weekend. To many, it would seem like a burden to work for such a long time, but I actually enjoyed it. I first measured the wood and began to cut it. I spent the entire morning cutting the wood:

Here are more pictures of me cutting wood. It was a cold morning and really early.

Here are some of the pieces put together after being cut. I had yet to drill the holes and bolt the platforms together.

I then spent some time drilling all the sink-holes to the 4x4's and then I finished drilling out 4 of the platforms. This week I need to assemble the "Spider Web" activity and the rest of the platforms.
